Matthew Peach, President / Producer
As President of M-1 Studios, Matthew brings over 18 years of experience as a business and technology consultant throughout the Metro Detroit area. Combining marketing/business knowledge with his film experiences, he brings a unique mix of business and creativity to his leadership style. Building a team of passionate creative individuals with an eye for success.
With M-1 Studios, Matthew meets directly with clients to determine their specific needs and deliver complete and custom video solutions from script to production to final delivery. Overseeing the creative team and managing client expectations. He’s built M-1 Studios as a customer service driven organization with a dedication to quality products.
Matthew credits personal success to understanding the importance of listening to customers and understanding their business needs. Not simply just “marketing” to them. As a result, M-1 Studios has grown in seven short years here in Michigan to a half-million-dollar production company and created direct high-quality positions for new employees.
Matthew’s vast film experiences behind the camera as a Director of Photography, and a film Director. Many of his projects have screened in top festivals around the country and overseas, winning numerous awards in technical categories, and top awards in writing, directing, acting and Best Film awards. He has trained with Emmy winning producer Charles Cirgenski, and has enjoyed working with Hollywood director William Dear (Angles in the Outfield), and many others during the years when the Michigan Film Incentive was prevalent.
Chelsey Raegen Knapp, Lead Editor / Screenwriter
As Lead Editor, Chelsey has completed hundreds of videos, along with serving as the Lead Editor on many independent films. A University of Michigan graduate with a BA in Electronic Media & Visual Communications, she has received awards and recognition for her short films and screenwriting from several film competitions and non-profit organizations across the state. Her versatile background in writing, editing, and sound design have made her a strong asset on a variety of documentary, feature, and commercial productions.
Amanda Looney, Animator / Editor / Videographer
A graduate from the Specs Howard School of Broadcast Media, Amanda’s ability to visualize concepts, understand and create an approach into a new project from script to screen, and produce an end product that is beyond the requirement is her specialty. From in-studio to on-location productions, Amanda continually sets the bar higher and higher in all projects with all clients. Amanda is also an avid equestrian, and her greatest joys are her family and two daughters.
Eric Winkler, Sales Manager
Eric brings years of experience in sales, business development, strategic positioning, as well as project management in direct day-to-day contact with both existing and new clients. Eric achieves objectives by executing the day-to-day activities that drive direct results for M-1 Studios, with the focus on meeting and exceeding our customers’ expectations for their video production projects in the planning process. Raised in his family’s business serving the public, Eric left a young man experienced in operating multi-million dollar companies to start his career in professional business solutions sales. Viewing video production as a needed service through our customers’ eyes, Eric works with client expectations from a creative and budgetary standpoint to achieve the best options. Team is everything to Eric, and his addition solidifies M-1 Studios excellent business-centric, customer-service focus.
Kate Biermeier, Editor / Videographer
Kate is a proud graduate of Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in Television and Film. As a young girl she received a camcorder as a gift, and has never put the camera down. During college she honed her videography and editing skills, and has since made numerous videos, podcasts, and scripts for various platforms. She has years of professional experience as a videographer, writer, and photographer, as well as a naturally creative mindset and passion for the media arts.
Mike Madigan, Vice-President / Producer
As Vice-President of M-1 studios, Mike oversees many of the productions of M-1 Studios in order to ensure on-time schedules for meeting client deadlines and the highest production values in terms of video, audio, and graphic/animation design. A graduate with Master’s Degrees from University of Illinois and Purdue University, his background working for nine years with Ford Motor Company in Human Resources roles brought him an understanding of valuing employees and their contributions to helping make a Company not only successful, but a desired place in which to work.
A lifetime passion for filmmaking, Mike started in the film industry as a hobby, and quickly made it his chosen profession. Working on a wide range of film and music video projects in many departments.
His varied film experience includes Director of the short films Watch Night (2017), 48169 (2013), 4 Pictures (2010), Cadence (2008), Demeter, The Candle, Demeter: Surrender (2007), and Caught (2006). In 2008-2009, his short film Cadence screened at over 14 film festivals including the Staten Island Film Festival (New York) and The Big Island Film Festival (Hawaii). In 2010, his romantic comedy 4 Pictures screened at over 30 film festivals across the US and earned awards for “Best Director” and “Best Comedy.”
Mike also was the Detroit Producer of the internationally-renowned 48 Hour Film Project (http://www.48hourfilm.com/detroit) for nine seasons as one of the largest film competitions in the USA, bringing in over 50 filmmaking teams and 1200+ audience members every July to experience the creativity and excitement of competition-based short film creation.
Stephanie Bushey, Editor / Videographer
Stephanie is a proud graduate of Wayne State University with a BA in Media Arts and Studies. Over the course of her undergraduate career, she produced several short films as well as television segments for Detroit Public Television’s MetroArts Detroit. Additionally, during this time she wrote her first award-winning narrative short. These experiences, along with her passion for photography and natural eye for detail, have given her an edge when it comes to editing commercial content for our clients.
Jeff Wolka, Editor / Videographer
Jeff is a graduate of Lawrence Technological University with a degree in Media Communications, and an alumni of Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts’ Video Production program. He has been involved in several film productions ranging from local short films to Hollywood features in Michigan. He served as a cinematographer on A Lab Rat Tale (2015), which won best cinematography and best film in show at the 2015 48 Hour Film Challenge Detroit. He has worked as an editor on other short films such as Beyond the Koi Pond (2014), 48169 (2013), Speed Bumps (2013), Operation White Noise (2012), and A Lease for Love (2010). He also has a specialty for filming animals of all kinds, and has produced hundreds of videos involving our four-legged friends.
Marlita Gamble, Editor / Videographer
Marlita is a graduate of Central Michigan University with a degree in Broadcasting/Cinematic Arts and Psychology. While in college, she was involved in several student organizations that allowed her to get experience in producing, directing, camerawork, and editing which made her ready for the real world! After graduating, she worked behind the scenes on several reality TV shows including American Idol, The Voice, and America’s Got Talent. Her experiences have made her a well-rounded individual with many skills to offer. Her attention to detail and creative mind allows her to create videos that can serve any client’s needs.
Sarah Kotalic, Editor / Videographer
Sarah is an enthusiastic Virginia Tech alumna who completed her B.A. in Multimedia Journalism and her M.A. in Instructional Design and Technology. Through her years at Virginia Tech, she’s worked with many companies and organizations, including ESPN and the ACC Network. She also worked for Virginia Tech Athletic’s Video Department, where she made videos for all different sports and has had her work broadcasted live to over 60-thousand people. Sarah got involved with video production in high school, and knew immediately that it’s what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. She brings a positive mindset to each new project, and loves that there’s always something new to learn in the video production field.
